G-Star RAW Taps Fashion Designer David Laport for "Denim After Dark" Capsule

Long-term denim connoisseur, G-Star, has teamed up with slow fashion designer David Laport for an all-new capsule collection which aims to fuse denim's casual nature with the subversive design methods of Haute Couture.

Dubbed "Denim After Dark," the new capsule merges Laport's expressive design ethos with G-Star RAW's longstanding heritage in denim, resulting in a couture-style dress and ready-to-wear top. Developed with Laport's signature pleat style and bow additions, all crafted in denim, the pieces aim to showcase the true versatility of the fabric and its full potential.

The collection's extravagant dress was designed with a mixture of premium Japanese selvedge denim and tulle, featuring voluminous ruffles alongside subtle, more intricate details and handcrafted in Italy. Laport's signature pleating technique features throughout the couture garment, offering a dramatic reimagining of a classic mini-dress.

Similarly, the collection's ready-to-wear offering acts as a wearable iteration of the couture piece, merging strong structural design with feminine silhouettes.

To celebrate the show-stopping capsule, the duo enlisted the help of South African photographer, Walter Pierre, for a campaign which aims to highlight the endless possibilities of denim-based design, through an "ode to nocturnal adventures."
