Yahoo Movies Furiosa’s epic runtime sets a new record for the Mad Max series
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has confirmed its epic runtime – marking a new record for the franchise.
The upcoming movie, which will be released later this month, acts as a prequel to 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road, focusing on the younger incarnation of Imperator Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy).
It has now been confirmed that the new film will be much longer than its predecessor's 120 minutes, clocking in at 148 minutes.

As such, Furiosa will also be the longest entry in the Mad Max franchise, way ahead of 1979's Mad Max, 1981's Mad Max 2 and 1985's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Ahead of Furiosa's release, the movie has been receiving rave reactions on social media, with IndieWire's David Ehrlich calling it "really, really f***ing good".
Fandango's Erik Davis described it as "a ferocious and relentlessly paced epic", while Josh Horowitz labelled the movie "uniquely gnarly and yes, epic".
Meanwhile, director George Miller has confirmed that Furiosa will include a cameo from Mad Max himself, Max Rockatansky.

"In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film]," he told Entertainment Weekly.
"And as we get towards the end of this movie, the chronology... Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened."
He further teased: "The writers know what happened to Mad Max in that year before, and we have a whole story of that, which I would like to do sometime if I get the chance."
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be released on May 24.
