Four teenagers charged with murder in Richland County shooting death

Four teenagers have been arrested in connection to an April shooting death in Richland County, the sheriff’s department announced Tuesday.

On April 9, Richland County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Halleck Lane in the Brookhaven community. They found a teenaged male in the roadway with gunshot wounds after 6 p.m., and the shooting victim later died after being transported to a local hospital.

Sheriff’s investigators determined the shooting was the result of a robbery, the sheriff’s department announced, and have charged four teenagers in relation tot he shooting. All four young males are charged with murder, robbery, use of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a firearm. Three of the four are also charged with possession of a firearm under the age of 18.

All four are currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

The April shooting happened in a residential neighborhood in the Brookhaven area of Northeast Columbia, between Farrow and Longtown roads. The location of the shooting is near Lake Columbia and Columbia Country Club, and about two miles from Sandlapper Elementary School.
