Four new restaurants are open now or coming soon on Cowan Road, including Qdoba

One of the hottest spots in South Mississippi for dining and shopping, Cowan Road in Gulfport, is getting four new places in the same vicinity to add spice and chill to summer.

Qdoba Mexican Eats has a projected opening date of June 13 at 1109 Cowan Road at Sweetwater Square, where Woody’s Roadside and Chillville just opened.

A locally owned franchise, the fast casual Mexican restaurant, Qdoba has specialty dishes such as new cheese-crusted quesadilla, southwest steak burrito and fajita bowl.

It’s known for its fresh ingredients and hand-crafted, slow-cooked and flame-grilled dishes to create flavor. Queso and other sauces, salsas and toppings come free with every meal.

Ben Kaufman with Qdoba said these new restaurants are locally owned. “It’s exciting that all this money is being invested locally,” he said.

Just down the road, Woody’s Roadside Gulfport opened Monday at 1121 Cowan Road. This is the third Coast location for Woody’s, which also is open on U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs and on the beach in Biloxi.

Next to Woody’s, Chillville Creamery opened in early May at 1121 Cowan Road, Suite B. The new ice cream shop features Mayfield ice cream in flavors like orange pineapple, strawberry cheesecake, Smokey Mountain fudge and non-dairy coconut or lavender.

They make the ice cream into shakes, floats, sundaes and banana splits — or go adult and relax with beer and wine floats.

The new shop is open daily 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Also opening soon is Mangiamo Italian Restaurant at the corner of Cowan Road and Magnolia Street and across from Captain Al’s.
