Yahoo Movies Former Love Island stars say it needs more diversity
ITV2's juggernaut Love Island might be having its biggest ever year at the moment, but that hasn't stopped it from receiving a backlash.
Plenty of people have called out the show for not having a diverse cast. Sure, the line-up may be toned and tanned and have lots of followers on Instagram, but the public want a wider variety of body shapes, ages and ethnicity.
Two of last year's stars have thrown their voices into the mix, including former Blazin' Squad member Marcel Somerville.
Responding to a tweet from OK!, Marcel said: "I'm waiting for #LoveIsland to send in this year's me #darkskinchampion #nubianromeo.

Jessica Shears also told new! magazine: "I'm hooked already. But I do think they need to put a bit more diversity in the villa."
Voiceover man Iain Stirling recently told Digital Spy: "I think it'd be a great idea to have a version of show with older people in it.
"The average age of TV watchers is going up so I think the show would work with an older crowd. They have lots of life experience and would have great stories to tell.
"You can name hundreds of people who are older and are attractive. Someone like George Clooney on Love Island, I'd pay to see that! Someone like Kylie Minogue for the boys.
"There are plenty of people of all ages who are beautiful regardless of age who would work in the show."
Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
