Luke Mitchell has revealed that he would be open to a return as Romeo Smith on Home and Away for a cameo.

Romeo departed the soap back in 2013, fleeing Summer Bay in order to save wife Indi Walker from heartbreak after being diagnosed with incurable skin cancer. It later emerged that he had passed away off screen.

However, speaking to Now to Love, Mitchell declared that he would be up for a brief appearance if the stars aligned schedule-wise.

"I have extremely fond memories of Home and Away," he said. "If it was a fun, little cameo to be had or, you know, like a dream sequence, I don't know if it would be possible but if it made sense and worked out scheduling-wise, why not?"

This isn't the first time the actor has endorsed the idea of a brief return, admitting in 2016 that he would "absolutely" reprise his role.

"It could be a flashback – or a dream sequence where Alf is dreaming about Romeo. I have a lot of friends on the show, so I would definitely consider it."
