Former Hollyoaks star Emmett J Scanlan reunites with Kieron Richardson

Former Hollyoaks star Emmett J Scanlan has reunited with Kieron Richardson on the set of the soap.

The actor famously played Brendan Brady on the Channel 4 soap for three years until 2013, one of his most notable storylines being his relationship with Richardson's character Ste Hay, which included a dark domestic violence story.

Hollyoaks has now revealed that Scanlan stopped by filming in Chester yesterday (March 22), sharing a picture of him and Richardson together.

"We filmed in Chester today… and look who came over to say hello!" the account wrote. "The one and only @EmmettScanlan experiencing behind the scenes! #Hollyoaks".

The reunion comes almost exactly 10 years since Brendan's exit, which saw him survive a stand-off with the police.

Speaking back in 2010 to Digital Spy, Emmett opened up about working with Richardson, calling him "fantastic".

"He, like myself, likes to play with the scenes – he likes to find different things that we can do. Often you're liking the scene on paper, but you need to bring it to life a bit and add a little bit of yourself to it.

"We toy around with things all the time – we try to push things and see how much we can get away with, because it is a 6.30pm show, so we think about how much we can imply and insinuate.

"What Kieron is able to portray more than anything is Ste's vulnerability – and vulnerability itself can be quite an attractive, sexy trait for someone to have. Kieron raises his game and he kills it every time."

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
