Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack has shared a health update with fans following her breast cancer diagnosis.
Womack shared the news of her diagnosis back in August while paying tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John, who passed away after a lengthy battle with the same disease.
The Ronnie Mitchell actress updated her fans on Instagram today (October 6), where she shared a video thanking them for their support and revealed she has undergone a lumpectomy and is set to begin chemotherapy.
"I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been sending me love after I shared my story about battling with breast cancer," she said.
"So just to tell you where I'm at, I've had my operation. I had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal, and I am now going to start my first session of chemotherapy."
The actress added: "I have read all of your stories and messages. They've blown me away, genuinely. And I just wanted to say thank you. I'm very humbled by the fact that everyone has reached out. So, I'll keep you posted. Just a huge thank you and sending you all lots of love."
Replying to the video, former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite (who portrayed Mel Owen on the soap) wrote: "Oh darling. Sending you love, light and positive energy. You are so strong and I know you will override all your obstacles."
Rita Simons, who played Ronnie's sister Roxy in EastEnders, added: "I love you so very much my absolute soldier."
When she first announced the news of her diagnosis, Womack posted a photo to Twitter from when she met Newton-John, alongside the caption: "This was the most magical of evenings. Olivia and Chloe had come to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards.
"I was so excited and in awe, she was my childhood. I now start my own battle with this disease and am left feeling deeply moved."
