When the holiday comes, no matter how many times you go to the grocery store, you always forget to pick up one thing from your shopping list. It happens to us too! If you need to make a quick trip on Christmas morning, check out this list of grocery stores open on Christmas Day before you pick up the keys, and be sure to call your local supermarket to see if they're open on Christmas and ask about its hours.

FYI: If you realize you're missing something on Christmas Eve, make a quick stop at one of these major chains that will be open, including Walmart and Target. Plus, Amazon Prime members can get last-minute items delivered to their doorstep thanks to Prime Now. That means you can get everything you need to make a delicious Christmas dinner without sacrificing your cookie decorating time.   • Morton Williams: The chain was open last year from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

  • Pavilions: Most stores were open last year from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

  • Safeway: Most stores are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — but not all will be open, so check with your local branch.

  • Speedway: Open 24/7.

  • Vons: Several locations in southern California were open last year. Hours may vary.
