'Force Awakens' Actors Recall Their Most Surreal Moments Since Being Cast in 'Star Wars'

The new cast members of Star Wars: The Force Awakens have clearly been experiencing a whirlwind of emotions since landing roles in the galaxy’s single biggest movie series.

But when asked about what has been the most surreal moment of them all, most point to the sheer amazement they encountered stepping onto the highly anticipated film’s lavish sets. (Watch the video above.)

“Going on the Millennium Falcon has been surreal,” John Boyega (who plays Finn) said of the iconic ship piloted by Han Solo and his first mate Chewbacca. “And I ran all over that baby trying as much as possible to suss out what was going on… it felt like I was in a time capsule or something.”

Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) was in awe of the film’s production design (“The attention to detail was so precise, and it was so specific, and the sets were so vast, that when I walked on the set on the first day, it was completely and utterly overwhelming,” she said). Meanwhile Lupita Nyong'o, who plays the motion-capture pirate Maz Kanata, was floored by the film’s use of its famous extraterrestrial creatures. (“Everything was very practical, and moving, and animated — it was crazy”).

Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), however, is a man of much simpler pleasures. His most surreal moment? “Seeing my face on a packet of GoGurt,” he said. “You can suck yogurt from my head.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens Dec. 18.
