Foot surgeon explains how to treat nagging heel pain

Nagging heel pain affects more than one in 10 people worldwide, experts say. The three most common causes of heel pain are bursitis, tendonitis and plantar fasciitis. Dr. Clifford Jeng, medical director of the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center, said plantar fasciitis is also known as heel spur pain, which occurs when the ligament becomes strained, inflamed and irritated.
