MONTREAL — Local Black leaders from a town just north of Montreal say the local police force did not hold proper community consultations when they developed an action plan to combat racism and racial profiling on the force. Associations representing Black residents from Repentigny, Que., took part in a press conference today where they said they feel their voices are misrepresented in the five-year plan and expressed fears that change will be too slow in coming. Peruvian Prime Minister Guido Bellido on Sunday said that companies which exploit natural gas in Peru will need to agree to pay higher taxes or else face nationalizations, a sharp warning to the sector from the new leftist government. Bellido told Reuters in August https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/exclusive-perus-new-govt-eyes-natural-gas-hydroelectric-sectors-public-companies-2021-08-08 that the government was planning to participate more deeply in the main industries, including natural gas and new hydroelectric projects, and would look to create new state companies. The Andean country, the world's No. 2 copper producer, has a major gas operation run by the Camisea consortium, led by Argentina's Pluspetrol, with smaller stakes held by South Korea's SK Group, Hunt Oil and Repsol.

Almost a third of BP’s petrol stations in the UK have run out of fuel, the oil giant has said, after motorists continued to panic buy en masse over the weekend. This is despite continued pleas by ministers and police that motorists should “continue as normal”, as well as accusations that the entire fuel crisis has been sparked by drivers unnecessarily stocking up on fuel – not a shortage of fuel itself. A row erupted on Sunday between the government and the Road Haulage Association after transport secretary Grant Shapps claimed the fuel crisis was a “manufactured situation” caused by a media leak by the RHA, from a meeting at which concerns were raised by BP about supply problems.
