Yahoo Movies Flood watch issued in Louisville area with a rainy Friday ahead. Here's what to expect
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Louisville and Southern Indiana through Friday and into Saturday afternoon as wet weather hits the region.
"Widespread rain" could amount to 2 to 4 inches of rain in the area by Saturday morning, with Louisville likely to see between 3 to 4 inches, according to Evan Webb, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service's local office who spoke Thursday. And in a Friday morning release, the weather agency said 1 to 2 inches of rain had already fallen in Southern Indiana, where flood chances are believed to be the highest, and an additional 1.5 to 3 inches were expected throughout the region by Saturday.
Severe storms are in the forecast for Friday evening, the weather service said, which could cause damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes. While rain is expected throughout the state, more damaging storms are considered more likely in Southern and Western Kentucky.

Power outages
Significant power outages had not been reported in Louisville as of Friday morning, but severe weather can cause significant impacts to the power grid.
If you lose power, Louisville Gas & Electric provides status updates during outages by texting STATUS to 4LGEKU (454358). The energy company also offers an updating map online that shows power outages in the region.

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some storms might produce heavy rain. High near 64. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Friday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 55. East wind 10 to 18 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m., then scattered showers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a southwest wind 23 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. West wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the morning.
