Flames Engulf Cars Being Transported on English Highway

Several electric vehicles being transported by truck went up in flames on a highway in England on Monday, December 5, shutting traffic in both directions, according to the Nottingham fire service.

Footage posted to Twitter by Extreme Motorhoming Adventures, an account run by a couple traveling the UK and Europe, shows several vehicles alight on the side of the M1 near Nottingham.

The source described the blaze as “scary”, saying on Twitter: “Could feel the heat going past.”

The Nottinghamshire fire and rescue service said the fire broke out at around 1:30 pm and involved a “car transporter with seven electric vehicles well alight.”

Traffic was impacted for several hours as crews worked to get the fire under control.
