First trailer for Outlander star Caitriona Balfe's new thriller The Amateur
The first trailer for The Amateur is here, giving us a glimpse of Outlander star Caitríona Balfe in her role.
Also starring Bohemian Rhapsody's Rami Malek and The Matrix star Laurence Fishburne, the 20th Century Studios film is set to be released on April 11 in UK cinemas.
The espionage thriller will see Malek take on the lead role of Charlie Heller, an introverted CIA decoder whose wife is killed in a London terrorist attack.
A synopsis continues: "When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge."

The first trailer for the film introduces us to Charlie speaking to his wife, who asks if he ever wonders what the CIA does with "what he digs up".
He is left reeling after seeing his wife killed during a terrorist attack in London, asking for "mission-specific training" and a new identity to track down the killers himself – while his bosses assure him they'll handle the case.
"I want to face my wife's killers, look them in the eyes, and balance the scales," he says over clips of him preparing to hunt down the attackers.
Fishburne's character slaps Charlie and urges him to point a gun at him and pull the trigger, seemingly training him for the mission ahead.

Those around Charlie deem him not up to the task as he's "not a killer", but he seems to prove them wrong in a sequence in which he destroys a rooftop swimming pool sending the man inside it plummetting to the ground.
As the FBI hunt down Charlie, we get a glimpse of Balfe in character driving away from something – or someone – though it is unclear how she plays into the narrative.
The Amateur also stars The Marvelous Mrs Maisel's Rachel Brosnahan, The Punisher's Jon Bernthal, The Instigators' Michael Stuhlbarg, and Mindhunter's Holt McCallany.
Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, and Danny Sapani complete the cast.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Littell, with a screenplay written by Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli.
The Amateur is released in cinemas on April 11, 2025.
