First Look: Wonder Woman Footage Unveiled

Farewell stars and stripes leotard – the new Wonder Woman means business.

Thanks to a ‘Dawn of the Justice League’ special on US network The CW, we’ve had our first glimpse of the Amazonian warrior princess from the forthcoming standalone 'Wonder Woman’ movie from DC.

It sees Gal Gadot playing the superhero – also set to appear in 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – in the origin story.

“We are going to see her coming of age, the entire history, what’s her mission,” says Gadot in the clip.

'Star Trek’s Chris Pine, who is co-starring as US military intelligence officer Steve Trevor, adds: “Telling a story of this now is pivotal and important, the story of a very powerful woman.”

In a departure for DC, it recently emerged that the action is going to take place during World War One, with this new footage from 'Monster’ director Patty Jenkins seeing our hero duffing up German soldiers with her sword and shield.

“The greatest thing about Wonder Woman is how good and kind and loving she is, yet none of that negates any of her power,” says Jenkins.

The long-in-gestation movie also stars Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and 'The Office’s Lucy Davis.

But there’s a while to wait yet – it’s not due out until summer, 2017.
