First look at Wesley Snipes in Eddie Murphy's comedy Coming 2 America

Amazon has released a whole new batch of images for Coming 2 America, giving us a first look at Wesley Snipes in the long-awaited sequel.

Originally set for release in cinemas, the Eddie Murphy comedy is now heading straight to Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2021.

In the batch of new images below, you can catch a glimpse of new and returning characters for the sequel, which will see King Akeem (Murphy) and his confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on a new adventure that takes them all over the world.

The official synopsis reads: "Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began."

Coming 2 America also sees James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos and Louie Anderson reprise their roles from the 1988 original, with writers Barry W Blaustein and David Sheffield also returning to co-write with Kenya Barris. Craig Brewer will direct.

In addition to Snipes, new additions to the cast include Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.

"My favouite part of reuniting with the cast of Coming to America was making a movie that's as good as the first one. Getting everybody together... and making a really great movie, that's my favourite part," Murphy said of the upcoming sequel, which will release a teaser trailer some time next week.

Coming 2 America will be released on Prime Video on March 5, 2021.
