First look at Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson in The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

From Digital Spy

It's been two years since it was announced that a sequel to Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson's action comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard was in the works.

Now, finally, a first look at the follow-up has been unveiled.

Titled The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, the second movie reunites the Hollywood stars as they reprise their roles as minder Michael Bryce and assassin Darius Kincaid, respectively. Salma Hayek will also be back as Darius's wife Sonia.

All three appear in the recently-released still, which is featured in the upcoming issue of Empire magazine.

Antonio Banderas also stars in the image and while his character is yet to be revealed, it seems safe to assume he'll be antagonistic, given that he's leaning over Hayek's Sonia, who – along with Michael and Darius – is all disheveled and tied to a chair.

Patrick Hughes is back as director, while actor Richard E Grant is set to return as Michael's former client Mr Seifert.

Other new cast members include Kristofer Kamiyasu (Good Omens), Gabriella Wright (The Tudors), Frank Grillo (The Purge series), Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) and Morgan Freeman.

The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is yet to announce a UK release date. It is currently aiming to be rolled out in open cinemas across the US on August 20, 2021.
