Lily-Rose Depp features in a new image teasing Robert Eggers' remake of horror movie Nosferatu.

Director Eggers is behind star-studded films such as The Lighthouse and The Northman, and Nosferatu marks his fourth feature film.

The 1922 vampire horror original was directed by F.W. Murnau, and was last remade back in 1979, so Eggers is truly bringing this classic into a new era.

And in case there is any doubt as to what viewers have in store, Eggers told Empire: "Yeah, it's a scary film. It's a Gothic horror movie."

He continued: "I do think that there hasn't been an old-school Gothic movie that's actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case."

Newly released is a terrifying first look photo of Depp, who plays Ellen, the haunted wife of estate agent Thomas, played by Nicholas Hoult.

The film follows vampire Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård) who becomes infatuated with Ellen, with a tale of horror and obsession unfolding as a result. Nosferatu has an all-star cast, which also includes Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Willem Dafoe.

Eggers sings Depp's praises and confirms she will be firmly in the spotlight in the film, telling Empire: "It's even more Ellen's story than previous versions. And Lily-Rose is absolutely phenomenal."

Depp has most recently been on our screens as Jocelyn in HBO's The Idol, alongside Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd – who created the show with Euphoria's Sam Levinson.

However, it was announced earlier this year that the show has been axed by HBO and therefore won't be returning for a second season.

Nosferatu will be released in cinemas in 2024.
