Upcoming dramedy Little Death has just released a first-look image of protagonist David Schwimmer.
The Friends star features in Jack Bergert's debut feature co-written with Dani Goffstein and produced by The Whale's Darren Aronofsky. The film is set to premiere at Sundance Film Festival in late January next year.
Known for his surrealist use of special effects, Bergert is better known for directing music videos for artists of the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat. His signature style is apparent in the first still of Schwimmer in the lead role, a closeup of the actor as many brightly coloured pills are raining down on him like confetti.
Little Death is a genre-bending movie and follows a screenwriter, played by Schwimmer, as he goes through a midlife identity crisis. The film turns dark when a pair of taco truck entrepreneurs, portrayed by Talia Ryder and Euphoria's Dominic Fike, set off on a quest to find their next opioid fix.
The cast of the film is rounded out by Jena Malone, Gaby Hoffman, Karl Glusman and Sante Bentivoglio.
Little Death marks Schwimmer's first film role in five years. He last appeared on the big screen in Steven Soderbergh's The Laundromat, released in 2019.
The actor was part of the voice cast of Netflix's short-lived adult animated comedy series Captain Fall, starring Jason Ritter in the lead role, with Christopher Meloni (Law & Order franchise), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer), Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Alejandro Edda (Fear the Walking Dead, Narcos: Mexico), Adam DeVine (Pitch Perfect) and Trond Fausa (Oppenheimer) providing additional voices.
This year, Schwimmer also appeared in an episode of AppleTV+'s star-studded anthology series Extrapolations alongside Snowpiercer's Daveed Diggs and Big Mouth's Nick Kroll.
