First look at Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo's new thriller

A first look at Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo's new thriller Crime 101 has been unveiled in new filming pictures.

The upcoming movie is based on the Don Winslow novella, which focuses on a detective called Lou Lubesnick who investigates jewel thefts across the Pacific Coast.

While police believe it could have links to Colombian cartels, the detective thinks otherwise and hones in on a possible suspect likely looking for a final score.

Crime 101 comes from American Animals director Bart Layton, who has co-written the screenplay with Frank's Peter Straughan.

The movie is also set to star Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, Corey Hawkins and Monica Barbaro.

Before Ruffalo's involvement, Pedro Pascal was originally attached to star alongside Hemsworth, though departed due to scheduling conflicts.

Hemsworth has been busy lately, starring this year in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga as villain Dementus and Optimus Prime in Transformers One.

The Thor actor is also in talks to appear as Prince Charming in a new Disney standalone movie from Paddington's Paul King.

Additionally, Hemsworth is being lined up to star as himself in the first part of a four-movie series called Stuntnuts, which focuses on a group of athletes as they try to raise money for a gym where they trained.

Meanwhile, Ruffalo recently starred in Poor Things – which earned the actor a fourth Oscar nomination – and is due to appear in Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17 alongside a return to the Now You See Me franchise for its third movie.

Crime 101 is yet to confirm a cinema release date.
