First Dates is an emotional show at the best of times, but viewers were truly in awe after a firefighter who attended the Grenfell Tower fire appeared on tonight's (October 23) show.

Nikki, who was paired with rugby player Ross, revealed that she had helped fight the devastating blaze at the London tower block earlier this year, inspiring viewers everywhere.

Recalling the 'horrific' experience, Nikki admitted that she "could literally not have given any more" physically or mentally while working in the fire.

"You can still do the best you can do but it's not good enough to save everybody...

"I did manage to bring somebody out – more than one – so if I've done something that's saved somebody's life then I can call upon that to help me through a bit," she told the camera.

Understandably, viewers at home were touched by Nikki's emotional and honest account of the fire, and were quick to brand the London firefighter a "hero".
