Fire started in ceiling of Family Dollar in Chestertown

A massive fire consumed a strip mall Friday night on the Eastern Shore. The fire started in the ceiling of the Family Dollar on Washington Avenue in Chestertown, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. Heavy smoke billowed and flames shot out from the store. Firefighters said the building's roof collapsed. It took about 85 crew members to get the fire under control. Officials said the fire caused more than $2 million in damage. There were no reported injuries.
