Prince William and Kate Middleton will soon be traveling to Singapore for the third iteration of his environmental awards, the Earthshot Prize. And ahead of the event, the 15 finalists who will be in with a chance of winning £1 million in prize money have been announced.

The three finalists in each of the five categories were selected by a global panel of 59 scientific and academic experts called the Earthshot Prise Advisory Council. Five winners— one from each category—will be chosen by Prince William and the Earthshot Prize Council to receive £1 million each to scale up their innovative solutions to repairing the planet. The Prize Council members include Queen Rania of Jordan, Cate Blanchett, and David Attenborough.

The actual awards will take place on November 7 in Singapore and will see William and Kate make an official visit to the country for the first time since 2012. The Prince founded the awards in 2020 in order to inspire optimism around the urgent challenges facing our planet. Taking place over a 10-year period, the aim is to find and fund a total of 50 solutions for the devastating effects of climate change.
