Final scores from Wednesday night high school football games in SC
The high school football season began early this week with games starting on Wednesday across South Carolina because of Hurricane Ian.
Here is a roundup of Midlands games from Wednesday as well as statewide scores:
Brookland-Cayce 42, Orangeburg-Wilkinson 7
The Bearcats (3-3) rushed for more than 500 yards as they opened up Region 5-3A play with a victory.
Naz Mays led the way with 194 yards and three scores while Will Young added 183. Deshawn Washington had 110 yards and quarterback Tanner Staton had two TD runs.
Camden 41 Lakewood 13
Cortez Lane rushed for three touchdowns and also caught a TD pass as the Bulldogs (4-3) improved to 2-0 in Region 6-3A play.
Averee Hickmon also had a TD run for Camden.
Cardinal Newman 69, John Paul II 40
Quarterback Duncan Skehan threw five touchdown passes and rushed for one as the Cardinals (3-3) scored a season-high 69 points in the win.
Cardinal Newman has scored at least 48 points or more in each of its three wins.
Running back AJ Reyes rushed for two touchdowns and Logan Busenlehner caught two TD passes.
