Felicity Jones is now obsessed doing stunts after working on Rogue One

Appearing in a ‘Star Wars’ movie essentially transforms you into a globally recognisable face overnight but in the case of Felicity Jones it’s done far more.

For starters, Jones is already an established actor, with films such as ‘The Theory of Everything’ (for which she got an Oscar nomination) to her name. So in terms of fame it’ll only heighten her profile.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar (via The List), the British actress has spoken about working on ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, revealing the spin-off film is like nothing she’s done before.

“I loved the action side of it because it’s something I’ve never done before,” Jones said. "I learnt how to do kung fu and now I’ve become obsessed with stunts and being on wires.”

Having done plenty of blockbusters and indie films such as ‘Like Crazy’, ‘Breathe In’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′, and most recently ‘Inferno’, the experience of working on a ‘Star Wars’ movie is surely like no other.

But it wasn’t simply her inclusion into the ‘Star Wars’ universe that was a change of pace to the norm - it was the methods director Gareth Edwards implemented; notably how keen he was to simply get cracking on filming rather than focusing on the script too much before the cameras began to roll.

“Gareth really loves to bring improvisation to the process. Unlike ‘Inferno’, where we had lots of rehearsal, with 'Rogue One’ it was a different process - Gareth often holds the camera himself and he will watch the scene and change camera positions, depending on what we’re doing as actors.”

In fact, Jones describes the ‘Rogue One’ on set antics as frenetic to say the least.

“We would often shoot in a 360-degree set. There would be supporting artists everywhere, moving around. You wouldn’t know where people were going to be. It was very much trying to find a documentary style within the framework of 'Star Wars.’“

Based on her account it sounds like the shoot was a bit chaotic but perhaps that’s simply the way Edwards works and saw it as a good way of immersing his actors into the dangerous, war-torn universe.

Jones stars in ‘Rogue One’ as Jyn Erso, an imprisoned renegade who is tasked with stealing the plans for the Death Star which takes place during the original trilogy’s timeline.

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is in UK cinemas on 15 December.
