Your favorite charity can now apply to be a Parade of Hearts beneficiary. Here’s how

Do you know of a local nonprofit that could use some love? Their lucky day may be right around the corner.

The Parade of Hearts project is gearing up for its second year in Kansas City, and they’re looking for a beneficiary. The chosen nonprofit will receive a grant from the organization in late 2024 along with free publicity and marketing during the next Parade of Hearts event next summer.

Interested nonprofit organizations can apply online here. The deadline to apply is noon on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023.

Here’s what criteria applicants need to meet:

  • Your organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

  • Applicants must be based out of Johnson or Wyandotte Counties in Kansas or Cass, Clay, Jackson or Platte Counties in Missouri.

  • The nonprofit’s mission must be related to one of three categories: education, minority owned business or hospitality and tourism.

  • Preference will be given to groups who serve residents on both sides of the state line— but this isn’t required.

The selection process will be overseen by The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, which will announce the winner on March 1, 2023.
