And while there are currently plans to set ‘Fast & Furious 8′ in New York City, it’s now also been reported that in order to be even more exotic the film will shoot in Cuba too.

According to Variety, a Universal Studios spokesperson has confirmed that they are going through official channels to make ‘Furious 8′ the first major motion picture to ever shoot in the country. USA had previously embargoed any trade with Cuba for several decades.

‘Furious 8′ are waiting for permission from both the U.S. and Cuban governments to “explore shooting a portion” of the film on the island. John Kavulich, a senior policy adviser to the U.S. Cuba Trade and Economic Council, has backed the deal too.

He explained, “Cuba is a land that many know about, but few have seen. These productions are hoping to capitalise on the increased interest in Cuba.”

Vin Diesel has already confirmed that ‘Furious 8′ will shoot a lot of its scenes in New York City, but the addition of Cuba to its locations would certainly make the film that little bit more unique and alluring, especially since the series has a huge Hispanic fan base.

‘Furious ‘8 will be directed by F. Gary Gray and will see Vin Diesel teaming up with Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese, Ludacris, and Michelle Rodriguez once again. Shooting will take place later this year ahead of its release on April 17, 2017.
