Jamie Bell Had to Walk on Stilts for 'The Fantastic Four'

The latest big-screen reboot of The Fantastic Four hits theaters next month, and its star-studded cast is doing its best to avoid giving away any sort of spoiler, surprise, or information about the film whatsoever.

Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Kata Mara (The Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch), and Jamie Bell (The Thing) joined Yahoo Movies at our Comic-Con studio over the weekend, and teased us with the smallest of details about the making of the film. Bell said that the biggest challenge he faced in playing The Thing — who you probably know as the Four’s oft-clobberin’ bruiser — was learning to walk on stilts, to compensate for the significant height differential.

“My character is 6′8,” he said, adding with a deadpan, “I’m not 6′8.”

The 29-year-old British actor is 5′7.

Teller, meanwhile, had to imagine having a very flexible, stretchy body, which director Josh Trank helped him imagine during one particularly difficult scene.

On August 7th, fans will finally get a chance to learn more about Mr. Fantastic’s body and the rest of the mysterious Fantastic Four when the film hits theaters nationwide.
