FA Cup draw LIVE!

One of the most important dates in the English football calendar is upon us as the Premier League and Championship teams enter the fray for the FA Cup third-round draw. The world’s oldest cup competition has already seen plenty of that trusty magic this season, the 142nd edition, and now it’s time for 44 of the big boys to arrive.

Liverpool are the holders, having beaten Chelsea on penalties in the final last season, while both Arsenal - the most successful side in the competition’s history - and Tottenham will be looking for an easy start after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup in their opening games. Non-league Wrexham, in the third-round hat for the first time in eight seasons, will hope for a mouthwatering draw.

The draw is set to begin around 7pm GMT, with the games scheduled to take place across the weekend of January 7 and 8. Follow the FA Cup third round draw below with our dedicated live blog.

Officially set for Saturday, January 7, and Sunday, January 8, there is usually a game on the Friday (January 6) too, and likely the Monday (January 9) also.

Anfield are our hosts

18:29 , Alex Young

Tonight’s draw takes place at Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC of course, who won the competition last season.Liverpool have a poor recent run in the competition, failing to get past the fourth round in five of the previous seven seasons.

In 2018-19 they fell at the first hurdle as Wolves won in the third round.
