Exclusive: Snowfall's Angela Lewis teases possibility of season 5

From Digital Spy

Snowfall season three spoilers follow.

Snowfall star Angela Lewis has spoken about the possibility of the show being renewed for a season five, teasing that she thinks the crime drama has "a good shot" at getting another season.

Snowfall, which follows the US cocaine epidemic of the 1980s, premiered its fourth season earlier this week and it's safe to say that drug kingpin Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) isn't having the easiest time of things as he tries to maintain his position after being shot.

With the 'war on drugs' intensifying, the rest of season four looks to bring some major challenges for the characters – but will we be seeing more of them beyond the current season?

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, actress Lewis, who plays Aunt Louie, revealed that she is just as hopeful as fans that the FX drama will be greenlit for another run.

"I hope so," she said when asked if we can expect to see a fifth season. "People are loving the show and the more people watch, the more likely it is that we'll have a season five. Nothing is set in stone, but I do know that we are in good standings with the network (FX) and we have a great fan base.

"I just hope that we keep growing and growing. And now that the show is on Hulu as well that just brings in more viewers so, we got a good shot. I'm fingers crossed."

The actress welcomed her daughter, Brooklyn, in October 2019 and she told us that she has made the most of being able to spend lots of time with her baby over the past year.

"For all the devastation and the tragedy that COVID-19 has brought to the world, lockdown has been an unexpected blessing," she said. "Just to have that time with her. She'll be almost two this October, 16 months already with pretty much mommy around and mommy getting to have that baby love, almost 24-seven.

"Thank God I did get to go back to work a little bit, because you know, you need some space and she needs to be able to be a little bit independent and it's been great. She went from like crying in the craziest ways when I left to like, 'Bye mommy.' It's also like, 'Wait, you're not gonna cry' (laughing).

"But it's been really nice to be able to have that time with her and still be able to work. I couldn't have asked for a better kind of balance there."

Lewis also spoke to Digital Spy about how Snowfall's creator, John Singleton, is still honoured on set following his sad death in 2019.

"It sucks, not having him around," she said. "There's definitely a space carved out for him; we have a director's chair there that is only for him. And his intentions are always honoured and kept, and he's definitely missed."

Snowfall airs on FX and Hulu in the US. Seasons 1-3 are available to watch in the UK on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer.
