The festive season is right around the corner, but what is the exact date Brits should be putting up their Christmas decorations?

According to tradition, Christmas trees and decorations should go up on the first day of Advent, which is the fourth Sunday before Christmas. This year, that falls on Sunday 27th November 2022.

New research conducted by Confused.com found that 47% of people put decorations up between the 1st and 10th of December, with 62% adding that December is when the Christmas season officially starts.

Elsewhere, they also found that over half (51%) said they put their indoor and outdoor Christmas decorations up at the same time. And nearly 7 in 10 (68%) say they put their indoor decorations up before they work on making the outside festive.

Dr Elena Touroni, a consultant psychologist and co-founder of The Chelsea Psychology Clinic, adds: "Christmas activities like decorating the house or the tree are happy (and often shared) experiences that provide a temporary break from the reality of what’s happening in the world right now."
