Once you’ve seen enough TikTok videos, you start to notice that nearly everyone’s room looks the same — and to be honest, it’s extremely cool.

Most young creators have a number of photos hanging on the walls, colorful LED lights lighting up the space and fake ivy draped around the room.

Most users seem to hang the ivy in clumps of one or two strands from the floor to the ceiling, as TikTok user @sararistoner demonstrated in a video. Others hang it around the corners of the ceiling, and some get creative like @little_welsh_casa_ on Instagram.

Most folks get their faux ivy from Amazon. It’s pretty cheap, too, and easy to find alternatives if one particular shop sells out.

This particular shop on Amazon earned mostly good reviews, but some customers complained about the smell of the ivy, which the product description warns customers about. That’s the risk you run with plastic plants: They live forever, but they’re gonna smell like various chemicals.

“Im not a fake plant connoisseur, but I looked at a LOT of fake ivy before I settled on this one, and I’m pretty confident in saying that this is the cheapest listing for this product,” one five-star review said.

“Everyone loves them … love these but the plastic is stinky — just air them out first,” another five-star customer wrote.

“The product itself is as described minus the fact that it smelled like it was produced in a fish factory. The smell was unbelievably strong,” a three-star reviewer wrote.

Reviewers recommended letting the fake plants air out for a few hours to get rid of the smell.

If you live on a rental property and your landlord’s rules for wall hangings make you nervous, consider pulling off a strand of ivy and putting it in a pot for that subtle-yet-trendy look.

On that note, we happen to know a great $7 product for patching holes in your wall, but battle your management company at your own risk.
