The E34-generation M5 doesn't get much love. A follow-up to the very first M5, it used a similar power plant and didn't have many major upgrades to set it apart. And what followed was the iconic E39, with its stellar looks and wonderful V-8. As a result, the E34 gets overlooked. But it shouldn't, because even 30 years later, it's one of the best BMW-badged Nürburgring tools on the planet.

YouTuber and Nürburgring regular Misha Charoudin got the chance to ride shotgun in an E34 M5 during a recent tourist drive day at the Green Hell, giving us a look at just how well the 310-hp straight-six-powered M sedan can handle the most challenging race track in the world. Even 30-plus years after this car left the dealership floor, it has no trouble tackling the Ring's treacherous corners and bigger flat-out sections.

And as Charoudin puts it, because the E34 isn't supercar quick, you actually have time to enjoy its dynamics, as well as the sound it makes. So while the car won't be setting lap records any time soon, it'll be putting smiles on the owner's face for years and years to come.
