Erik ten Hag slams Manchester United ‘attitude’ after same error happens twice in Leeds draw

Erik ten Hag deemed it “unacceptable” that Manchester United conceded early in both half against Leeds before fighting back to earn a 2-2 draw.

Wednesday’s game saw Wilfried Gnonto fire the relegation-threatened Whites ahead after only 50 seconds at Old Trafford before Raphael Varane’s own goal came in the opening moments of the second half.

“Very poor,” Ten Hag told reporters of the early goals.

“It's unacceptable. You start any game, but especially a derby, the way we did. We were down and had to fight back. We made big mistakes.

“That's to do with attitude. We were not ready to go into the duels. We lose the duels and the formation was also bad at the start.

“When we lost the ball, we didn't follow the principles and were quickly down. And, from the warning in the first half, the second half was the same.”

Ten Hag was nonetheless happy with his side’s response as Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho scored in the second half to rescue a point.

”I have to make compliments to the team for the resilience and the way they fight back,” he noted.

“I think we make some really good football, great chances and, finally, also we finished and scored two great goals.”
