The Equalizer 3 sets new box office record for the series
The Equalizer 3 has set a new box office record for the series, with the latest instalment securing the highest opening weekend gross for the franchise.
As reported by Deadline, Denzel Washington’s latest adventure as Robert McCall grossed $60.6 million across its opening weekend, performing better than each of the previous two instalments in the action franchise.
The film follows McCall as he settles down for a peaceful life in southern Italy, before coming into contact with the mafia as they threaten friends from his newfound life.

Washington recently revealed that the film would be the last act of revenge for McCall, confirming that there were no plans for a fourth film.
“I don’t want to say he’s found happiness, and I don’t want to give it all away, but he meets someone lovely, he’s in a lovely town and he seems to be at peace,” he said.
“That seems to be a good place to stop. I didn’t know that there were going to be three. Definitely didn’t know that when we did the first one. I didn’t know how it would end.”
Director Antoine Fuqua echoed the sentiments of the lead star, adding: “This is it. Robert McCall, the working-man hero, at some point he’s got to walk away from it. At some point someone else has to pick up the ball and serve justice.”

Despite serving as a conclusion to the trilogy, Fuqua revealed exclusively to Digital Spy that the film was worth all the trouble from the challenging shoot.
“Many challenges. The language, shooting in a difficult place like the Amalfi Coast,” he explained. “Beautiful as it is, it's very complicated to get all of the equipment there, but it was absolutely worth it when you look at the shots, and look at the location, it's amazing.”
The Equalizer 3 is in cinemas now.
