How This Entrepreneur Is Working With Rural Artisans To Make Fragranced Candles

When Jaipur-based entrepreneur Tanushree Jain moved to New Delhi to pursue a Master’s degree, she had to suffer a lot due to the capital’s toxic levels of pollution and poor air quality. On researching fragrances and their usability, she found out that most candles contain a lot of carbon that can be harmful for the environment. She thus decided to do something about it.

This journey from mindless consumption to conscious decisions prompted Jain to start up ‘Nushaura’.

Jain joined hands with a team of 80+ artisans from marginalized communities from rural and urban areas to create healthy, sustainable products in order to maintain the well-being of consumers and Mother Earth.

Nushaura is backed by Her&Now, an initiative that empowers women entrepreneurs, implemented by GIZ, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in partnership with the Government of India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE).
