WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President Donald Trump on Thursday met U.S. Steel Chief Executive David Buritt at the White House as the struggling steelmaker has been pushing for a decision on its long sought tie-up with Japan's Nippon Steel . A proposed $14.9 billion merger between the two companies was blocked last month by former President Joe Biden. Trump has also opposed the deal but has welcomed Japanese investment in the technology sector.

(Reuters) -Porsche SE, the holding firm of Porsche AG, said on Thursday it expects impairments on its stake in the carmaker to nearly double to a range of 2.5 billion euros to 3.5 billion euros ($3.63 billion). The holding firm also said it expects writedowns related to Volkswagen to tend towards 20 billion euros in its previously expected range of 7 billion euros to 20 billion euros.
