Elsewhere, Cate Blanchett's Borderlands did not perform as well at the box-office. The video game adaptation opened with $8.8 million from 3,125 cinemas, landing in fourth place.
The movie follows outlaw Lilith (Blanchett), who returns to her home planet Pandora. Teaming up with a bunch of misfits, Lilith tries to find the missing daughter of Atlas, the most powerful man in the universe.
Digital Spy's review called Borderlands: "An incredibly faithful adaptation visually, with fun needle drops and a megawatt comedic cast." Adding: "It just isn't funny enough, it isn't zany enough, and it isn't even particularly violent enough. It's somehow bland."
It Ends With Us and Borderlands are both out now in cinemas.
