Bridgerton fans: listen up, as there's a new period show taking Netflix by storm. Enter The Empress, a six-part romance drama set within the Austrian royal family.

The series dropped on the streaming platform last week [29 September] and it's already jumped all the way up to the No.2 spot in Netflix's UK Top 10 - though viewers have all been making the same complaint about the new show.

As you'd expect from any good period romance, there's a strong combo of seduction and political tension in this one. Netflix's official synopsis reads: "When rebellious Elisabeth falls for Emperor Franz and becomes his unlikely bride, she enters a world of tension and intrigue at the Viennese court." The Empress is currently streaming in German, though you can opt for the dubbed version or add subtitles in English.

While viewers have already proven to be huge fans of the series, they have all been sharing one particular complaint about the show: focusing on how gutted they are that the drama only has six episodes.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts, with one writing, "I am FURIOUS at how The Empress has just ended after only 6 episodes. This has to be a joke."

Another agreed, writing, "How’s The Empress going to get me hooked then only going to give me 6 episodes?" Others chimed in, with one adding, "Just finished The Empress. I started this morning but 6 episodes? Please."

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote, "I binged it Saturday and was disappointed that there are only 6 episodes. Who does that?!"

Fingers crossed we'll see a season two for this one!

The Empress is streaming on Netflix now.
