TikTokers show off their emotional range in hilarious 'emoji acting challenge' trend: 'Oscar-worthy'

The “emoji acting challenge” is the latest trend taking over TikTok users’ feeds — and it is absolutely hilarious!

The viral TikTok challenge began in late July. Each acting reel consists of TikTokers listing random emojis on the overlay text of their videos and then repeating a specific phrase to match the mood of each symbol. The clips under this trend are usually set to a dramatic piano cover of “Say Something” by A Great Big World.

TikTok creator Tati posted this clip of her repeating the phrase: “You stink!” for her emoji acting challenge. The emoticons she used in her challenge include a grossed-out face, a farmer, the crying-laughing emoji and an annoyed face.

“Good god, oh Molly! You stink!” Tati exclaimed, impersonating a Southern farmer’s voice.

Viewers found Tati’s sudden transitions between emotions amusing.

“THE LAUGH AND THE FARMER,” a TikTok user commented.

“I can’t figure out if you were laughing from what you just said or not,” another wrote.

TikToker Chechin shared this ironic video to show off the range of emotions he can add to the phrase, “Chrissy, wake up! I don’t like this!” (as made famous by the latest season of Stranger Things). Chechin’s acting reel highlights his angry mood, a cat impression and Spanish-speaking skills.

“THIS WAS GOOD,” complimented one TikTok user.

“Eddie would be proud lmao,” a Stranger Things fan wrote.

User Justin Han added a K-Pop flair to the TikTok trend with his “Gangnam Style”-inspired post. His emojis include a young boy (for which he brought out his little cousin) and a dancing man.

“The way he transformed into a kid is very talented,” a TikToker joked.

“I’ve been practicing! TYSM for noticing!” Han responded.

Influencer James Charles also shared his own emoji acting reel. For his video, Charles showed the emotional range he could apply to his famous catchphrase: “Hi sisters!”

“The demon one was perfecto,” a TikToker commented.

“Um, what is this James?” someone asked.

“An Oscar-worthy acting performance??” Charles replied.
