Emmerdale's Paddy and Chas reach a turning point after their split

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Paddy and Chas Dingle finally unite in tonight's episode (March 21) for the sake of their young daughter Eve.

The pair split up late last year after Paddy discovered that Chas was having an affair with Al Chapman in the months leading up to his death.

Paddy was full of anger when he realised that Chas had planned to flee from the village with Al, taking Eve with them.

The revelations led to numerous rows between the former couple – and these were made worse by the fact that Paddy was still living under the same roof as Chas at The Woolpack.

Last week, Paddy shared his plans to move out of the pub in the hope of starting afresh.

In Tuesday's episode, Paddy and Chas manage to have a civilised conversation over how they'll break the news to Eve that her dad will be moving out.

Previous hostilities could finally be left in the past, as Paddy and Chas seem ready to concentrate on doing what's best for Eve.

Earlier this year, Paddy grew closer to his ex-wife Mandy again and they spent the night together.

The focus of the story changed when the extent of Paddy's depression became clear and he later planned to take his own life.

Asked recently about the possibility of a reunion, Lisa Riley – who plays Mandy – warned that it would be a long road ahead.

Speaking on ITV1's Lorraine in February, Lisa explained: "You know when you look in the window and there's a massive cheesecake? We're just going to give you a slither of cheesecake. You don't want the cheesecake all at once, do you? Maybe on Christmas Day you might need it but we're only in February!

"Me and Dom [Brunt, who plays Paddy] love working together and it comes across. You can tell that the camaraderie comes across on screen as the characters as well. The writers then see that and they write more of it, so who knows?"

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
