Emmerdale star Sally Dexter hints at surprising new Faith lie

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Sally Dexter has hinted at what's ahead for her character Faith Dingle as she continues to keep quiet about her recent diagnosis.

Faith has been told that her cancer has returned, but she's adamant that her son Cain and daughter Chas shouldn't know the truth just yet.

Upcoming episodes see Faith continue to confide in her daughter-in-law Moira Dingle, who is respecting her wishes by keeping quiet.

Unfortunately, this secrecy has unintended consequences when Chas becomes convinced that Moira is sleeping with Nate Robinson again – and that Faith must be helping her to cover it up.

Speaking about the ongoing story, Sally explained: "Faith is leaning on Moira a lot more than she'd want to. She's very fond of Moira, but Moira only discovered Faith's secret by accident. Faith wouldn't have chosen to tell anyone at this point.

"Since then, Faith has found herself relying on Moira more and more, but she doesn't feel happy about this at all.

"She wants to be a solitary soldier and she doesn't want to rely on anyone else. But she's also hugely grateful for the comfort that Moira gives her."

Next week, Chas bursts into Moira's bedroom at Butler's Farm as she expects to find Nate there.

Instead, Chas is stunned to come face-to-face with Faith, who's recovering from a chemotherapy session. Needing a reason to be there, Faith comes up with a surprising new lie.

Sally teased: "Faith is at Moira's recovering from her chemotherapy session next week, but Chas has somehow got the wrong idea. She thinks something is going on between Moira and Nate.

"When Chas bursts in, Faith has to think on her feet to throw her completely off the scent – and she does!

"At the moment, I think Faith is very relieved that people don't know the truth, because she thinks it will change how they are with her.

"Faith wants to live her life for as long and vibrantly as she can, but she's lonely. There's a comfort in keeping yourself to yourself, but there's a loneliness to it as well."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
