Emma Watson surprises fans with sustainable crop top look at 'surreal' meeting with Al Gore

Emma Watson is turning heads with her "green" fashion statement.

The "Harry Potter" actress and activist, 31, attended the Climate Reality event hosted by Al Gore in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Tuesday. For the event, she opted for a custom Emilia Wickstead green two-piece outfit.

"Thank you to the loveliest Emilia for making me this beautiful custom piece," she wrote Tuesday alongside a photo of her with Gore. "It was handmade in London using leftover fabrics consisting of 62% recycled yarn that was locally sourced, woven, and printed in Italy. I will be wearing this a lot!!"

In another Instagram post, Watson said "it was really surreal to meet and interview one of my idols.

"I think one of the many reasons I find Al Gore so compelling is that - even though he lost one of the biggest fights of his life to become president in 2000 (by such an unbearably close margin...) he has continued to do the work he set out to do despite humiliation, loss and defeat... the tides have been against him for years and he’s kept swimming. That to me is a hero. Thankfully climate change action is becoming mainstream and the tides have turned in his direction and now we are all swimming with him."

Despite Watson's sustainable efforts, fans displayed mixed reactions about the actress' choice of clothing, which revealed a black bra underneath the cropped shirt. Some called the outfit "totally totally inappropriate," while others praised the look.

"I see it another way... Al Gore didn't put enough effort into his look to meet with Emma Watson," Twitter user @JRileyProducer quipped.

Watson has been a longtime advocate for environmental justice. On Sunday, she wore a wedding gown recycled from 10 wedding dresses when joining Prince William for the inaugural awards ceremony of his Earthshot Prize, an ambitious environmental program that aims to find new ideas and technologies to tackle climate change.
