Actress Emma Watson just broke ten months of silence over on Twitter to address rumours that she's engaged to Leo Robinton, who she was first seen kissing in April 2020 – and unfortunately for anyone who'd started shopping for a hat, it appears the stories are false.

"Dear Fans, Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is 'dormant or not' are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue," Emma began her statement.

"If I have news - I promise I’ll share it with you," she continued, before offering a further update about what she has actually been getting up to. "In the mean time please assume no news from me just means I’m quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are - failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people."

The Harry Potter and Little Women star also added, "I am sending so much love to you, hoping you’re ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times. And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well."

Given that prior to this series of tweets, the last time Emma engaged with her 29 million Twitter followers was back in August 2020, it's clearly something she is passionate about addressing (which is absolutely fair enough - can you even imagine how frustrating it must be to read you have a fiancé when you, err, don't?).

Her publicist, Jason Weinberg, also commented on stories that Emma has gone into retirement, by telling Entertainment Weekly in February, "Emma's social media accounts are dormant but her career isn't."

Not a great deal is known about Leo, but The Sun previously reported that he's an LA businessman who used to work for a company specialising in legal cannabis there. However, he departed from his role there back in June 2019, before he got together (we think) with Emma.

So there you have it: if/when Emma and Leo ever do get engaged, we'll be hearing it from her first.
