Inquiry into Southport stabbings announced after Axel Rudakubana admits murder
An inquiry into the Southport stabbings has been announced by the government. It comes after Axel Rudakubana, 18, admitted murdering Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, in the attack in Southport, Merseyside, in July last year. In a statement, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said that now there has been a guilty plea, "the families and the people of Southport need answers about what happened leading up to this attack".
