Elliot Page lands next lead movie role
The Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page has landed his next movie role.
As detailed in The Hollywood Reporter, Page has recently wrapped production in Canada on Close to You, which he co-wrote and produced with director Dominic Savage.
The film stars Page as a man named Sam, who heads back home for a dreaded family reunion. Along the way, he reunites with an old friend and revisits old memories that he'd rather keep buried.
"It has been a remarkable experience to collaborate with Elliot Page on this very special and unique film about love, identity and family," Savage said in a statement.

"I’m so proud of what we have achieved with the film. It has been an honour to work with Elliot to bring this very poignant, personal and important story to life and to the screen."
As well as returning as Viktor Hargreaves for the fourth season of The Umbrella Academy, which has also recently wrapped up filming, Page released his autobiography Pageboy earlier this month, aiming to tell a trans person's story in their own words.
In the book, Page revealed that he had a secret affair with his Juno co-star Olivia Thirlby on the set.

"I had an all-encompassing desire for her, she made me want in a way that was new, hopeful," he wrote, adding that the two would spend time together "[in] her hotel room, in our trailers at work, once in a tiny, private room in a restaurant… We thought we were being subtle...
"I didn't see a glint of [shame] in her eyes and I wanted that – done feeling wretched about who I am."
