Elk Grove public safety agencies host holiday parade, toy drive. Here’s how to donate

The holiday parades continue in Elk Grove, and public safety agencies will soon get in on the holiday cheer and help spread it among the city’s residents.

The Elk Grove Police Department and Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department are teaming up to go around Elk Grove hosting a series of parades from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 12-14.

Those three days will consist of parading through different areas, weather permitting, including Laguna, southwest Elk Grove and the Old Town/Central Elk Grove neighborhood.

Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Jason Jimenez said the event is a “fun time” that the department looks forward to each year.

“The Cosumnes Fire Department and Elk Grove Police Department will drive Santa and his elves through three Elk Grove neighborhoods with lights, sirens and lots of holiday spirit,” Jimenez said.

He added that the Police Department is currently collecting new unwrapped toys for its Toy Project, which will be distributed to Elk Grove households with annual income of $38,000 or less.

Those who wish to donate can purchase toys suitable for children ages 1 through 11, the city says. Donations can be dropped off at the Elk Grove Police Department, 8400 Laguna Palms Way. Drop-off hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Other drop-off locations include the following Cosumnes Fire Department locations, available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week:
