Dylan O'Brien's new movie confirms UK release date

Caddo Lake, the new film starring Dylan O'Brien and Eliza Scanlen, has had its release date in the UK confirmed.

The thriller takes place near the titular landmark following the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl, an incident which causes buried secrets to resurface for one family.

As the plot unfolds, connections also begin to form between past deaths and disappearances at the mysterious lake, as a man begins to experience memories of his dead mother.

With creepy sounds being heard around the lake and characters appearing to experience sudden seizures in the film's trailer, it is clear that all is not as it seems at Lake Caddo.

Produced by M Night Shyamalan, the film was announced as part of the upcoming slate for Sky Cinema, with its release date confirmed for October 20. This will follow its release on Max in the US, which is set for October 10.

In addition to O'Brien and Scanlen, the cast for Caddo Lake includes Lauren Ambrose, Eric Lange, Sam Hennings and Diana Hopper, with Celine Held and Logan George sharing both screenwriting and directing duties.

O'Brien remains best known for his roles in The Maze Runner and Teen Wolf, though he didn't reprise his role as Stiles Stilinski in Teen Wolf: The Movie. O'Brien subsequently explained his absence from the film, sharing that his decision not to take part wasn't taken lightly.

"It was a difficult decision," he began. "A lot went into it. The show couldn't be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast. We didn't really know that it was happening.

"They kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out. Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there. I wish them well and I'm going to watch it the first night it comes out. I hope it f**king kicks ass, but I'm not going to be in it."

Caddo Lake streams on Max in the US on October 10 and Sky Cinema in the UK on October 20.
