Dune director Denis Villeneuve has revealed why his hugely-anticipated new movie doesn't have any post-credits scenes.

Extra scenes during and after the final credits have become a staple of the movie landscape these days thanks to the likes of Marvel, but Villeneuve has admitted that he doesn't much care for the idea.

"I don't like post-credits scenes," he told NME. "There is a very specific final emotion that I was looking for with the final frame [of Dune] and I don't want to mess with that.

"So no, I don't use post-credits scenes. I've never done that and I would never."

He also ruled out a special cut further down the line, noting: "The Director's Cut is what people are watching in theatres right now. There will be no other cut."

With Dune now finally out in cinemas, speculation is also rife over whether a sequel will go ahead – though nothing has been officially greenlit as of yet.

Villeneuve has said that he is "pretty optimistic", noting: "I think there's a lot of enthusiasm in the reaction that we've got so far, but it's my understanding that [the producers] want to wait and see the overall reaction before making a decision."

Meanwhile, star Oscar Isaac has opened up about filming a nude scene in Dune, joking: "[I relied on] an army of fluffers... I just bare it all, I had a cock sock, so I was protected and everyone else was as well."

Fellow stars Rebecca Ferguson and Jason Momoa have also been speaking about their favourite moments in Dune to Digital Spy.

Dune is out in UK and US cinemas now. It is also available to watch on HBO Max in the US.
